REEDLAW Legal News Network reports: The Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT), Delhi, under the additional charge of the Hon’ble Chairperson of DRAT-Kolkata, issued a public notice on 22nd August 2025 specifying procedural requirements for seeking urgent hearings before DRAT-Kolkata. The directive mandates that litigants and counsels intending to list their matters on an urgent basis must file a praecipe, duly served upon the opposite party or their counsel, along with an affidavit confirming such service.

The notice emphasised that the affidavit and praecipe must be presented before the Tribunal to demonstrate compliance with these procedural norms, ensuring transparency and fairness in urgent hearing requests. These directions aim to guarantee that the opposing party receives adequate notice before any urgent matter is taken up.

The Registrar of DRAT-Delhi has circulated this notice to the Bar Association of DRAT-Delhi, Bar Associations of DRTs in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Jaipur, and instructed all Registrars of DRTs under its jurisdiction to display the notice prominently on their notice boards. It has also been placed on the DRAT-Delhi notice board for the information of all stakeholders.
